Dispatch

Within time you'll see where you are going,
the old man said to me.
I nodded -amazed- by his sudden words
for I had never heard him speak.

He smiled,
That image,
Unforgettable.

I stood there for a while,
gazing without seeing
then nodded one final farewell.
The man just tipped his hat

I walked off and let him be,
but he never left my pace.

Unfolding

Ground beneath, stone and clay, sand and grass
Unwinding roads, scenery unseen before,
Around every corner new beauty grows
All I pass, gathered and collected.

A stew of journey. Conflict and flow
The horizon battles the sky
Tormenting elements, backstabbing winds
I am a passenger.

Destination unknown in advance
Often not even noticed untill after
or unnoticed at all.
Maybe one day I'll discover where I've been.

With the change of
seasons, ground and mind.
I adapt my stroll and gait

I have to choose what to carry and what to leave
Modifying moulds, trying to compress,
Amount and richness,
gold or feathers
  (no) worth
  (no) shine
  (no) weight.

Even if I could fly, I would walk with wings.

Veil

Around me,
  all the time

Bright sunlight
Dark nights
   (the power of light)

Fog concealing land,
Water covering up uneven grounds,
Snow neutralizing colours,
Weather storms blinding sight,
   (the power of water)

Is it beauty, is it betrayal?
Nature's make-up

Utopia is nothing more than an illusion;
it's just the right time,
the right place,
the right angle
and the right light.

Betwixt

I have been going on for so long now,
Days and night have passed without me even noticing
I'm tired, broken, alone
A loner under this crystal sky

A rest is in place

The bonfire, dancing, consuming, chanting
Warming me, teasing me.
Oh quaint imagination

Nowadays so much
fictioned and flauntered

Days seem to cease me
Catch me if you can stars falling down on me
The rainbow always hovers
just as I reach for the gold
Daydreams seem to only come at night

It has been quiet for so long
But this morning
as I woke up
A bird chanted
in the distance

The glory days of dreaming are over

Wake

The world was still pitch-black
as I opened my eyes
   (a bird chanted)
I felt paralysed with eyesight taken
Then I realized new gainings

For sure I had heard before
distant memories
    (an old man)
But this was different
These were new perspectives
New truths

An awkward feeling
as if I was reborn
lifted to higher callings

A bird, a cricket, an owl,
something in the higher grass on the right,
the bowing of the tree,
the dancing of the wind

Then fear came over me
as I noticed dawn rising
Would this sensation vanish?
(as the sun sets as the moon rises)

But as light awoke
I saw the bird
that sang to me

Dawning

I came upon a shed
and although it looked old and decayed
it's presence was strong and vigorous

Inside
on the left a mirror, slightly broken
     my hair was grey
how long had this journey really lasted for?
in the corner a wooden chest
inside fabrics, textiles, clothes, boots, hats
on the floor a crate, turned upside down
and next to it, halfly covered under the hay
   a wooden kind of book

More and more
the small shed felt bigger
than the space I had felt
around me on my journey
An akward mixture
between feeling
sheltered and vulnerable

I spent a long time tonight
with the book in my lap
and as I went over it
again and again
I wasn't sure anymore
was I lost
or had I just found

Muse

In an ironic kind of way
there's more
to see, feel and learn
Within these few square metres
Than in the big wide open

Captive within
forced to see detail
The mirror has showed me more
than the reflection of my face

Days I've lingered outside
Evenings wondered inside
Nights travelled the worlds within

Often I catch myself thinking about
the writings and drawings in the book
They feel like mine
but could they be?

Offset

My legs have become restless
and now -after leaving for a little stroll-
I find myself still heading for the horizon
as dusk sets in

This same world, now so different
The winds touch
  like a divine massage
the scents around me
   like million dollar fragrances
Sounds that I hear
   like symphonies composed

But at the same time as I feel
overloaded with new gainings and wisdom
I feel more lost and confused
as ever before in my life
All I am
desperately in need of new balance

The nights sky
filled with dark heavy clouds
low hanging clouds
Storm arises

Yonder

Thunder storms
screaming out
rage within
sharp lightning bolts
guide my way

Pouring rain
soaking all
dried thoughts
that I had wrapped up
within

Howling winds
blowing over
believes
that I held dear

The truth
never single sided
Faith and reason
Hand in hand
fighting it out

Hold me, turn me over
My blood my only witness
In this coat, under this hat
A small boy tries to walk
As the man I am
in these boots.

Tail

As I sat down at noon today,
a tear ran down my cheek.

In its own form it felt
heavy as stone,
relieving as confession
and as deep as the seven seas.
It was the most beautiful feeling
I have felt in a long time.

As I sat there
          -with the wind gone-
silence was around,
and I could hear
 my heartbeat,
          pounding
as my life's metronome.

In that moment I knew
A time would soon come
and all would make sense
                         to me

Allay

The hurricane I was
at the beginning of my journey
is not more than an afternoon breeze

My pace has temporized
And my physical abilities
are not what they used to be
    anymore

My strive to conquer
Winds, storms and rain
Mountains, rivers and forests
                             has vanished

I lean in the winds
I laugh with the storms
I shower in the rain

With mountains I play chess
Within rivers I hear music
And in forests I never feel alone

Precipice

Contentness
might be the best word
to describe the feeling
that I had this morning
as I awoke

Today
was going to be
a great day

I sat and awaited
for over three hours
on a low, stone brick wall
near an old big oak tree

then I saw
        -rising from the horizon-
the posture of a young person
and as he approached me
   he asked me
where this road would lead him

I could only just smile
and tell him
a few words of wisdom
