Precipice

Contentness
might be the best word
to describe the feeling
that I had this morning
as I awoke

Today
was going to be
a great day

I sat and awaited
for over three hours
on a low, stone brick wall
near an old big oak tree

then I saw
        -rising from the horizon-
the posture of a young person
and as he approached me
   he asked me
where this road would lead him

I could only just smile
and tell him
a few words of wisdom
