A timeless feeling

The last note fades into the air, then he says polite,
"How's my little friend, is everything alright?"
I nod, take out my little box, and show it with pride.
Some people can't be trusted, but in him I can confide.
"Now that is something special, you should hold on to that for sure,
It will show you good old magic, that I can assure"
I tell him that I got it trough quite an unusual way,
For it was the cat who brought it to me, just the other day.
He doesn't seem surprised at all, I know I sure was astound.
"Time is a funny thing my dear, it sometimes plays around"
He takes his trumpet, and starts again his tune.
I am glad for I am sure, he will play all afternoon.
